The\u00a0announcement\u00a0has not only ruffled a few political feathers, but has also poised\u00a0some difficult questions for members of the general aviation community.<\/p>\n<div>The most pressing\u00a0question is whether the newly claimed space will require specialized overflight\u00a0authorizations. Because the ADIZ has been claimed by China, and China airspace\u00a0requires permits\u00a0for any flights landing in or flying through, some flight\u00a0planners fret that in order for their birds to fly through this space, they\u00a0must obtain a special permit from China.Luckily, however,\u00a0this additional step is not necessary. Because the claimed airspace overlaps\u00a0the airspace of several other countries, you do NOT have to secure a special\u00a0permit for flights that must\u00a0travel through the space. All that\u2019s required is\u00a0that the flight plan be on file with the correct countries.
